70 the other night going back to Glasgow on the M8. 2.5NA Diesel
It's old tread but just to say my1985 90 2.5na it's going fine 55mph can go bit more but is it really necessary? 235 85 16 tyres and 1.44 transfer box. It keep speed with HGVs and I'm fine with that(maybe not uphill ) I thought to get better speed by swapping transfer box as sugested by Dave from Ashcroft transmission to put their 1.3 ratio but it was bit out of my budget. Most early MOD have 1.6 transfer box therefore they are bit slow, so Mike from Britanica restauration told me to keep it as it is. I just put back oil feed plate to my transfer box as it's with non driled imput shaft to have better oil feed. All in all I realised something wheen spoke with guys who have narrowboats, they told me it's not about speed. I took this on-board and I'm happy whit what I have.
Shag a pig this is an old thread and for some reason I got an email to tell me as much.
Eeeeeeeeeeeeee it’s like old times where are they now, Widget, Slob, bugger a cowboy he was funny, Heidi, I still look out for him at the shows I go to. Where’s Yella and Ming the tosser, Trewy. Should we have a High School Reunion. Mondo and Ally are still loved up darn sarf so farcebook keeps telling me.
Ah bollocks I’m going to have my tablets and go to bed.
Kin right I’m innocent, a big lad told me wot to say an then ran away. Over 52 thousand frigging posts you need to watch more Corry.
I think car drivers who hang around the hgvs are nutters who sooner or later are going to end up a statistic.
Modern trucks are fast and powerful up and down hill, some big bhp number out there, a lot of the current truck drivers are how can I put this politely? best to be avoided at all costs, i would keep out of their way.
I get your point and by the way I'm HGV clas 1 driver with over 20 years on the road. My point is not about hanging aroun HGVs, but that time vise I can reach any destination even by driving 55mph. After all HGVs are limited to 50-56mph so it's not a big deal. I don't have td5 or better so I'm just running what I have and I'm ok with that. After all for me it's about enjoying my ride rather than being anxious of getting on time.I think car drivers who hang around the hgvs are nutters who sooner or later are going to end up a statistic.

Have mate who work with me and we live short distance from each other. He have latest BMW, we leave yard around same time it's about 10 miles journey (7m on motorway M1) he take advantage on motorway, but I catch up with him on traffic lights and we arrive home aroun same time. And yeah... haven't seen my colleagues taking wide turns in their cars, probably as we don't wear flip flopsDown this end of the world the general rule is avoid any flip flop wearing truck drivers and of course tipper drivers, but thats true the world over
You can always tell truck drivers when they are in their own cars as they still swing out before turning into any side road.
I remember an old thread where a sales rep was saying he drove everywhere at 50mph and another guy worked out that he spent at least an extra 2 weeks each year sat in his car.
