Well tomorrow after work it's time to collect my disco 1 I've found and ordered 1/8" bsp 90 degree elbows and tube ready to make my wading kit but cannot find any info on how to attatch to front or rear axle any advice much appreciated

What do you mean attach to the axle?

Fit/ screw the pipe fitting to the axle? in which case, remove old one and screw in new one, I cannot remember the thread size , so I assume you have the right ones.

Attach loose pipe to axle, use a cable tie....

Apart from that, not sure what else there is. Except to say are you also fitting / extending T Box, G Box breathers? or as well a Timing case breather?

OK, Sounds good.

For the timing case plate, how did you make the fitting afix to the plate?

Also, do remember to allow for axle articulation. Otherwise you will be ripping out you pipework.

I can't remember which was what when I did mine 14yrs ago.
But timing case /trans/gearbox breather threads are also bsp.
Axles are 1/8" for sure , timing case maybe 1/4" bsp?
Some people buy a breather plate to replace the FIP circular cover but you will still need to plug the lower hole.
 
Hi Neilly for the timing case plate my mate had a plate which I borrowed and made a copy of with 5mm plate at work I then (eventually after days of ringing round ) managed to get hold of a 1/8" bsp tap and tapped thread into plate when my elbows arrive in going to ptfe tape it in and file back flush with plate to avoid and catching I was looking at proper kits but there £35+ my elbows were 99p each off eBay and clear 6mm od tube was £9 for a roll of 20 meters so with little bit of work comes in under half price Screenshot_20170518-184949.png Screenshot_20170518-175307.png as for lower hole I'll find a solution when I pick her up tonight
 
Hi Ben,

The lower hole Flossie is referring to is the wading plug hole, there is a second in the bell housing. Some people put a breather in the wading plug instead of the timing case FIP cover. But if you are going wading then fitting the wading plugs is a big bonus to stop the crap getting into the timing belt or clutch....:):). Most remove them when not intending to wade, so that if an oil leak happens internally the clutch or timing belt whichever area has the issue is not contaminated. Wading plugs are chaep as chips to get.

The reason I asked was, I purchased a breather plate made from thin 1.5mm steel, ( so your 5 mm plate would not be a problem) , and the supplier tapped a hole in the ctr of the plate, which meant the pipe fitting would foul the FIP bolt.........So it never got fitted.

I was just going to weld up the hole on the one I had and recut it. But then , tbh, I have yet to find the need for it in reality.
