To spring or not to spring?

Son converted his D2 ES to coils with a Terrafirma 2" lift kit, plus we took the ACE off.

Mine was already coils but took ACE off back in July.

No really difference without ACE, handles just the same to me.

Philip's seems harsher, might just be the new shocks etc.

I find my D2 seems to lean more than i would like it too, maybe it is just me not being used to it.

When I de-aced mine, straight away you can feel a very slight bit if roll as you begin to turn into a corner and it seems to hold and not roll any further.

I think you get more feedback as a driver and it's safer to drive in that respect with no ACE.

I drive my dads D2 from time to time that does still have ace, it does feel much "tighter" to drive compared to one with no ace.

Well I have loaded the back up with stuff then watched the car relevel.

As to ACE, great on twisty A roads.

imo ACE is ace, cant understand why people downgrade there vehicles ? if its broke fix it simples

I removed it from mine as it was vibrating on the chassis and causing a horrible groaning noise. The pipes were all getting quite badly corroded and I couldn't be doing with a breakdown and recovery home on the back of a truck (it was inevitable)

Also I ask the question, Why have LR never fitted it to a vehicle since the D2...

Because they use different techniques such as full air suspension

Only recently realised that mine didnt have ACE, previous bloke must have removed it, so i can't comment on performance but mine handles well enough for me.
Bit gutted im having to coil the rear up but cant face another compressor going.

Well... It took quite a long time from when I asked about binning the rear air in favour of coils but I finally had it done 2 weeks ago and I wished I'd done it sooner.
It handles near bang on how it did and I also have less to worry about now.

Coils were £66 from ebay and I'd recommend to anyone.

Thanks for all the advice

How refreshing it is when someone asks for advice and then actually comes back and adds the end result to the thread. Thanks for letting us know the ending mate.
