Been watching this thread with interest, I have been here 10yrs (Qatar) must admit not fussed with Dubai full of pretentious pricks, quite liberal here, pork and alcohol available cheap fuel (12p ltr) tax free good salary, accommodation is expensive though but a good contract covers that so what's the problem just do it !!! THailand is for kiddy fiddlers and as I work for a Aussie company don't get me started on why not to go there!

Are there any job vacancies ;)

haha... some funny responses.
I may only be 23, but I do have my head screwed on right- not the kind for over drinking and taking drugs- so probably going to avoid the trouble.
I think that you have to respect each country's traditions, and if you are going to visit a muslin place, then you have to behave- not rocket science really.
I don't think Singapore is for me- had a stop over there once and it didn't feel right.
I understand that Dubai will be fairly soul-less, but there are loads of expats there, the same as Qatar. The problem is getting a job before going, I only have one years experience in my field and a lot of the jobs require you to have considerable experience.

Will keep searching though!

did you mention what you do? sorry if i missed it. however at your age a pretty amazing job to do for a few years is cabin crew for an airline like emirates or etihad, qatar. if they select you they give you paid training and after that great pay to work with young dynamic people from literally everywhere on the planet, travel for free, (and so does your family - almost free), work hard and party hard and when on stopovers stay at only the best hotels.

a friend's kid brother did it for about 5 years and saved enough to move to canada to start a business and buy a house. on the other hand some people do stay in the industry and if they're lucky and smart enough to know when to get out of crewing they can cross into something else. that kid i mentioned, one of his friends put his name in when they were looking to train pilots and was able to make the switch.

I work in Marketing for Medical Devices/medical software. My aunt worked as a stewardess for Quantas back in the day when you could make a killing doing it. Now she has a nine bed mansion in Sydney! They say those days have passed now though!
