Tired paintwork

My Defender hardtop is Coniston green and the paintwork is dull, particularly the front wings and bonnet. I have an orbital sander that I can fit polishing pads to but what is the best polishing compound and polish? I immediately thought of T-cut but is that the best? Also which polish would you recommend? I'm not looking for a Concours finish, I just want to Polish out the oxidised paint.

Someone I know used iirc G3 stuff they got from halfrauds after he said T cut just was not HD enough for the scratches he had.

T-cutting is hard work feck that lol I use poor boys waxes & chemical guys cutting compounds
I have other cars with better paint than my landys
G3 is cheap & should do the trick with a standard cutting head don't use a soft one use a firm one
also when using the g3 use a spray bottle with water keep the panel wet & cool do not buff it & have
the panel dry out, speed wise 2-2500 nice & steady not full pelt throwing the compound over the
upstairs windows lol it wont be long before you get hang of it.
Most polishes have an abrasive in them much less than the G3 compound though........ polish = soft buffing pad
then a good wax to seal & remember to breath

Try Farecla G10 or 3m finesse it, both are nicer to use than T cut. These are pretty gentle, as suggested before, G3 Farecla is really good but a little more aggressive than G10.

I wouldn't use an orbital sander...for what it costs get yourself a proper slow start polishing machine...this kind of thing.

You need LOTS of water IME, but it will work wonders...here's my before and after...

So you buy a rotary one which spins one way & builds up heat quicker
& proven to burn through the paint quicker than a duel action.
silverline are pish & are very heavy but if its a one time thing wire in &
he will only have one use for it. Full polishing kit for 50 quid off Bgay
The old saying you get what you pay for been there done that !!!!
plus you wont see the buff marks in the paint when its sunny.

May I suggest having a look at polished bliss & detailing world for some more information on machine's even try Meguiars site & see what they're selling...

BTW the DA's have speed controls too...

I used three different products. The best combination was G3 Scratch Remover and G3 Resin Polish. I didn't get on with the orbital polisher, it didn't reach into corners so I did it by hand.
Unfortunately the dents and corrosion didn't polish out, nevermind.
