Tips on how to fix dented roof please?

My dad reversed into a parking space and dented the rear left of the roof fairly badly, especially for the speed he was going, it's hit on the flat bit, but folded the peice of the curved roof, Ill upload pics soon as i can, the body shop said they can try basically hammer it out respray it, can't remember how much but it seemed reasonable, or 3.5k to replace the entire thing

buy a replacement roof off ebay £100 will get yu a good un..

Or as a temp. Shape a piece of wood to curve and hammer it out

3.5k? Is that for a platinum roof inlaid with gold and painted by Michelangelo himself?
