When i bought it the tyres were down at 14 psi. I topped them up to 32 psi all round. This ok?
I run my tyres at 31 Psi and check them weekly. All tyres must be the same make, type and size, or the transmission takes a poundingWhen i bought it the tyres were down at 14 psi. I topped them up to 32 psi all round. This ok?
We like to moan about our cars, but check out our Govt reliability stats for Toyota 2005...It worries me a bit all the 'you're screwed you bought a LR' jokes on here!! Are they really that bad?!
I agree with that statement, but don't think you've got the best all round engine in the range. Make sure this kids aren't looking at the screen, here's some porn...I bought a turbo diesel engine as i understood these to be the best all round engine in the range?
If they are ALL at 14psi, I'm not 1 to say the pressure is wrong just by looking at the number - mine run at 40psi because that's what my GT Radial Maxmilers are designed to run at (and I love going to the dentist!). However, I would say they are probably way off being what they should be. I believe all the standard tyre fittings on Freelander were specified in the range 30-32psi - so check with the tyre manufacturer. When i bought it the tyres were down at 14 psi. The best all round engine is the L series turbo diesel. Unfortunately when BMW acquired LR they fitted the awful TD4 instead of the beautiful and luxurious, and ultra reliable Rover L series. (yours is the nasty BMW engine - Best Mended Weekly). I think they had a stock of the things they couldn't shift. It worries me a bit all the 'you're screwed you bought a LR' jokes on here!! You have me confused here Nodge (not unusual lol ) - were all the O M T units not PG1 ?Interestingly that L series used in the press shot is fitted with the Rover engine end plate, that fits O,M,T series as well as the KV6 box bell housing.

I think you can get an end plate for a KV6 to fit a PG1, but not for an L to fit a KV6 auto .... (hence the KV6 box wouldn't fit that plate ?)
I remember a conversation we had some time back re the possibility of fitting an auto to an L series and deduced nothing was available to mate them.
(long day though )
Should say... every day it starts and not in limp mode, or idling erratically, or cutting out, and actually started without having to clear the cylinders of diesel first... then its a day to enjoy!Enjoy.... every day it actually starts is another day to enjoy.
Is that the bugger you need to slap a Jatco onto the L Series or is it an adaptor plate that's needed?Interestingly that L series used in the press shot is fitted with the Rover engine end plate, that fits O,M,T series as well as the KV6 box bell housing.
That's the one GGIs that the bugger you need to slap a Jatco onto the L Series or is it an adaptor plate that's needed?
Now I am REALLY confused .... I thought there was no way a jatco would fit on an L series......That's the one GG
No adapter needed.
Hmmm, interwesting - ---- where would one get such an end plate - ..... also, why would the L in the shot have one ?. In the rover 200 / 25 / 45 etc, the PG1 gearbox bell is the same (afaik ?) as the freelander - a direct swap (physically).... my head hurts..The Jatco could, in theory be fitted to the L series. Providing the L series has the Rover end plate fitted.
Now we know the Jatco fits an IRD and KV6 engine one go. So now all that is needed, is to make it fit the L series. The rover end plate should do that without to much trouble
The press shot is a Rover L series not an Land Rover L series.Hmmm, interwesting - ---- where would one get such an end plate - ..... also, why would the L in the shot have one ?. TD4 is completely different.Yup, I realise it was not a freelander lump.. Now, the TD4 Jatco is a completely different pattern. Ok... so, regarding the KV6 - we are saying a KV6 engine would physically fit to a 200 / 25 pg1 box - as far as bolt patterns were concerned. ? - and also the Kv6 FWD auto box would 'physically' bolt up to a 200/25/45 ?
Vewwwy interwesting - thanks for the detailed pics - I was collating a few from ebay to compare.TD4 is completely different.
Yes the KV6 Jatco box will fit a Rover L series engine. It won't fit the K series 4 pot though as that has a completely different bell pattern. The KV6 will fit the Rover L PG1 box.
