Tints are ok but just check with your insurance. I was going to do my Disco until they told me how much the insurance would go up by.

I just checked (swift cover) and it says I only need to tell them if it's on the windscreen or front side windows (both sides of the drivers head)

2 weeks ago we had 4 motorcycle police doing the rounds here, some bike safety campaign. The local pimp my ride window tinter has had 8 punters back to get the side tints removed. The police had a light meter and gave each of the 8 punters a ticket for 2 x frontside windows = 3 points per window + fine. Thats just the ones the tinter guy knows about, the word was anyone with tints was being stopped and checked.

Be very sure your tints are legal on the front side windows, its 6 points if there not !!!

I have no intensions of tinting the fronts, just all of them including alpine behind the B piller.

I think more people should know about this

Car Window Tinting Legal Requirements in the UK
Vehicle & Operator Services Agency (VOSA) Statement

The UK Road Vehicles (Construction & Use) Regulations 1986 Act details the legality of window tinting in the UK - and as amended specifies the minimum levels of light that must pass through the windscreen and front side windows.

For a legal window tint in the UK the specifications are:
a) Motor Vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1985
b) The light transmitted through the windscreen must be at least 75%.
c) The front side windows (to either side of the drivers’ head) must allow at least 70% of light to be transmitted through them.

If the glass is tinted to a point whereby it lets through less light, the vehicle is breaking UK Window tinting law.

So looking at that list they will need to know about it and may increase the premium. Id ask just to be safe.
