il start me 90 when work dries up again, need it 7 days a week now till me tractor log books sorted ,got all me hd lift kit shocks springs and radius arms, just need time to fit it all

Got the welder out, finally :D nearly through it out of the workshop!!! So before anybody comments yes the welding is shocking and the reason is that the gasless mig I have you can't adjust the amps so been welding at 105amps using .8 wire trying not to blow holes through everything....

New welder required, any offers? Sale of if possible borrow for a few weeks so I can do a better job and get it finished.

Anyway. Tried to get one side welded.

Didn't have much left to get the outer arch aligned, hope it's in the right place:rolleyes:

Was going to cut the plate to finish the arch but was so ****ed of with the welder I didn't want cut bits lying about untill I got a replacement. Plenty else to be getting on with another day.

####in gasless ! never liked it, try an borrow a murex gas mig ther the bollox , i managed to get a second hand one, gas, wire speed and amp adjustment easily, for tricky stuff iv got some oxy acet bottles, lot easier on thin stuff,

after a few weekends it might look like a rangie again stu !

as for usin the yellow one fer work ............ errrrr.. nope

Hope so, need to start stripping and selling the EFI to pay for it all, picking it up this weekend with a borrowed trailer (reposesed as they owe the boss money):D and the bosses shogun. So if you want any bits for the 90 let me know..

Coming on there Stu.

This may sound archaic... but I used an old oil cooled electric welder when I did mine. Swapped the lead to the 'thin' metal position.. bought a box of 1.6 rods lowered the ampage and away I went !
You can weld new 1.5 mm sheet, without blowing holes, quite easily... have to be a bit more carful on the original tin though !

I've never used MIG (don't own one) so tried the stick... worked well.. good penetration... and will weld most things once it's struck up :)

Look forward to seeing your progress with the new welder ! Box sill looks good :)

Cheers Rusty, got Classic Kev to thank for the sill idea. Got some stick welders at work, been tempted to use them but one is a bitch to strike at low amps and the other I would need a 100m 3phase extension to run it. Prefere Arc welding and use it a lot at work. The mig will come in handy for other repairs on and fab work about the place so not a waste of money, I hope.

Dose it have two posts for the 'live' cable ? Mine has 2, one for thick material and one for thin (marked on the plate for the amp setting)
The thin rod's (1.6mm) make it much easier to strike... as I recall, I had it set at about 40 or 45 amps... and a good thick power cable, plugged directly to the mains, without extension leads (if you can), will help !

Anyway you'll soon be 'cracking' and 'popping' away with that new fangled MIG :D

Not much to do till I fetch the welder, so I stripped the front back to the engine.

If anybody is thinking of doing this, remove the front panel and radiators first then unbolt the wings, it's much easier than my way  and unbolt everything off the wings before unbolting the wings.

Going to fetch the donor EFI in the morning, now that the boss has found the key to his shogun, wont let me use his TDV8 Autobiography L322 for some reason  pics will follow, will be a breaking thread when I start. :D
