I have replaced a waterpump on a Defender 110 with a Nissan FD35T engine, but when removing the pump a bolt sheared off so had to remove timing cover a gears to gain access to extract the bolt. With timing marks alined and waterpump in place the engine started fine but now sounds noiser than before, any suggestions welcome.

you may be one teeh or tooth (whatever you wana call it) off on the timing .i bought a 300tdi that had the same problem and it was the timing .

thank you to the both of for your help in confirming my engine timing troubles, I will go and try to get it right this time.
