timing chains

Hi wammers,i have also moved fip,should i put it back to the middle of its rotation,then get tdc,put chain on,count twelve links up from that,and then bring fip sprocket mark to meet that,cheers,pat

Do you know what you are doing? Unless you do you can get things pretty wrong. Do you have the special tool for cam timing? It is not something you can guess. Do you have the tools for pump timing? That is also something you can't guess. With engine at TDC number one firing. Locked by timing pin you will see a pip mark on crank sprocket it should be at around twenty five past on the sprocket. Put chain on and mark link. Start at that link and count twelve links mark twelfth link. That must be aligned with pip mark on FIP sprocket. Or if your FIP sprocket has dual marks 4 and 6, with pip mark next to 6 for 6 cylinder engines. Personally i think if you have everything down fit at least new chains it would be silly not to. Then you will have your bright links to go by. Download and read through RAVE there is a link in my EAS "How to".
