Hello all,

I'd be very grateful if anyone can recommend a garage in/near Manchester, I’ve been advised by JLR Trafford Park my Timing Chain is worn I have a Velar R-Dynamic SE D180 – 2019 plate

I would very much appreciate any recommendations

Thank you

I’ve already had my toes blown off yesterday by JLR # 3K quote – thing is I can’t hear anything in the engine and completely zero signs. I’m driving to France in a few weeks with the fambo and can’t take the change it will snap!
I guess I have to take their word its worn ! 52k on the clock

I don’t know anything about this engine and can’t help with a recommendation for a garage but the timing chain should not be worn at 52k! Is the car under warranty? Have you contacted JLR to see what they say? Consumer legislation may help as it should last longer than your mileage.

Plus 1 as thought it was at 112k, but have heard about the chain tensioner issues

Also oil changes at 6,000 miles due to reports of dilution problems

Assume the D180 has the inline 4 diesel 2.0,engine

A worn chain at that mileage? Aren't they supposed to be for the life of the engine? Sounds like a warranty issue!!
How do they know it's worn? Why did it go to the garage in the first place?

Found this what’s involved doing the chains and tensioners, hopefully it’s the same
