Just had a quote for nearly a grand for the timing belt replacement and service at an indie garage. They say water pump has to be done the same time as the belt. Can anyone verify this for me please??

Thanks

Depends how thorough a service they are doing, it's common now to change water pumps with belt as the interval is so high on modern vehicles

Also, what engine? I thought the FL2 were all chain driven engines
Thanks for the reply kev.
2008 2.2 diesel.
So am i wrong about the belt. Owners manual says timing belt?? sounds like i need to speak to the garage and ask them!
Again, thanks kev

I believe that does have a belt, I was thinking of the puma 2.2 which is chain drive, yours is the duratorq engine. A quick search on ECP shows belt kit and pump to be ~£250 and I'd roughly guess labour would be around the same.
Genuine parts/main dealer would no doubt be more expensive

Rushes to reply to post lest the petulant one throws toys out of pram. Unfortunately I know nothing about the belt in question, but hey...a reply is a reply :D

^^ Ditto, Oh well in for a penny and all that;)
Although perhaps more answers would have been forthcoming if posted in the Freelander section.

To the last 2 morons who posted, if nothing constructive don’t waste my time o_O Tried the freelander forum with no posts.
