I'll want proof that she got under it and waxoyled it now and again before I bid. Could do with a 4 inch lift and some big wheels, a winch, n a few scratches.

Visited Sandringham and looked at some of the Royal cars. None of her Land Rovers were out, but there was a very nice Rover P75 and some fancy shooting wagons.

Looks crap. All that stupid Perspex n stuff. So what Queenie used it. It's not useful for anything other than poncing around

I'm surprised it was ever used - in fact it was very lucky it was ever used - would only be used in good weather.

Typical example of the money the British military waste on royal visits.

(Ah now let me pull up this sand bag) During my time, during serious defence cuts there was always no money or resources until something like a royal visit, which would involve months of planning and extravagance. By the time the royal party and their numerous klingons turned up the responses they got during the friendly chat phase were invariably "Yes sir we've been waiting here for four ****ing hours sir. No I don't like the ****ing military any more sir I can't wait to get out sir. They're making me redundant sir. Hopefully this'll be the last ****ing time I'm doing this bull **** sir". It must have been pretty grim for them too.

That's all very well, but in fact the Queen does play some important roles in running the state, and encouraging tourist trade through ceremonial functions etc.

Also, it is my memory that the Dutch also have a Queen, and that she is very popular and well loved, and performs ceremonial engagements, although sometimes on her bicycle rather than in a landrover.
And she has a nice palace in Amsterdam, I have sat on the wall outside and had a beer. And if memory serves, another palace in the Hague, and a holiday home somewhere else in the country.

Personal opinion, I don't care who drove, or sat in, a vehicle. What matters to me is the vehicle and how good it actually is. Like the Range Rover that had some gangsters killed in it .. so what? It's a Rangie, does it drive, does it work properly? I looked at a Subaru Outback a few years ago, £5-6k above 'standard' price, thinking it must be good, modded, have something special, but no, the 'extra value' was 'cos it was once (verified on V5) owned by some celebrity at some time in it's past for a couple of years .. again, so what? That 'celebrity' or past user doesn't bestow anything special onto the vehicle do they?

All just a ploy to make more money ... whether that's a queen or or a celebrity.

It is always a shame when people reduce the Queen / Royal family to a tourist attraction.

The problem I've described has very little to do with the Queen as far as I can tell - it comes down to a ridiculous attitude in the upper management of the armed forces where they waste defence budget on ceremonial "obligations". In this case this the vehicle was at least a vehicle that had been used for other purposes before it was made into a ridiculous sniper's target - better than the fleet of brand new Rovers that were bought for just one day (in a time of cost cutting and redundancy) and then sold off afterwards (for example).

As for the Dutch royal family - I have nothing to do with them. I'm English. I'm not allowed to vote in national elections (because I'm not Dutch) so anything they do has absolutely nothing to do with me - I use this fact quite frequently round here when the whinging starts...

..."You've only got yourselves to blame - vote differently!"

Yep! Like I said, it would knacker my spine just as much if the Queen had sat in it or no! :D
