Hi all,
Spent today changing the radiator with my dad on his 98 Defender TDI.
I think it was long overdue!!!
It had no problems cooling the engine at all, the temperature gauge always sat in the middle. The only remaining fins were clogged with mud!
We replaced the radiator surround too as it had totally rusted through underneath, one blow with a hammer and the majority of the bottom fell out. The one we got from eBay was for a discovery so it required some adaptation with an angle grinder. The intercooler could have done with a clean but we were worried about losing any fins from it.
Has anyone else had the fins on their rad completely disappear?! My Discovery which is the same age, same engine, same mileage looks absolutely fine.
