Hi All, I've never had any probs with the throttles on any of my rovers..until now! The throttle cable is periodically popping out of the small bearing.. As per the 2nd pic... and I can't figure out why! Anyone had a similar issue, is it just wear I wonder?

that looks very dry and in need of a good oiling, does the inner slide ok in the outer, have you got enough tension in the pedal springs and the one going to hp pump

Slides in fine but recently has jumped out a few times, cable seems a bit slack right enough, will check the arrangement at the pump pedals fine

I think when mine popped off in edinburgh centre had to drive to hotel on tickover a mile away, popped bonnet and a tension spring had came out allowing that bit to pop out, I think it needs tension on it all t(e time and also oil all those pivots on the linkages and if cables still too loose can it be retensioned as you might a brake cable with the hole in screw bit, not using that engine now but can’t recall exactly

Yes, I get that. Just had a look at the pump end, which doesn't have any springs on it ☹️ weird! I reckon lack of tension is the issue but I can't see how to tighten the bugger up

Right, solved it. Loosen up the wee nut as shown raise arm to pull up and increase the tension in da wire returning tension to where it should be. Retighten wee nut. Gave it a damn fine oiling as well. Sorted.

I can see one spring on yours which I think should be pulling the cable down, another one shown in pic on top of pump.
there is also adjustment on the lever with the pinch bolt which will take up slack

Thanks Steve, thats useful. Info. I think the spring you are seeing is for the hand throttle. Think I’ve fixed it, see above, had a brainwave, which is beyond rare for me. Anyway, thanks everyone, a 12 mm spanner did the trick on that wee nut.
