Thoughts on this 2010 FL2, please?

Thanks for that!
Looking again, I’m not sure why I took that photo of the wheel arch, it looks fine.
I’d be interested to know what you think of the steering wheel thing?

I was just about to write this when the pop up appeared.

Comparing my MY15 FL2 to the one in the vid, they are different. With the engine on tickover, with foot on brake and in neutral, as soon as i rotate the steering wheel 2 inches i feel the vibration of the power steering pump through the seat and can hear it. My hearing is good.

When driving down the road and turning the wheel slightly left and right repeatedly, you feel it slightly pitch and turn slightly. If i turn left and right repeatedly as much and as fast as you do in the video then the body rocks left and right as it points in a slightly different direction on each turn, at roughly the same speed. Not a massive rock but one you feel and notice. Mine is on 19 inch rims with the tires set at 32psi instead of lr recommended 35. Dealer suggest this to remove the vibration of the tire tread. My tires a 300 miles old.

It would be good if another FL2 owner did the same test. But i think it should be like mine. Not like the FL in the video.

Edit: I think it's ok from looking at the vid on a big screen

Thank you for that. Very much appreciated indeed!!!!!
I think I’ll send the video to the seller, he might not be too happy that I made it whilst driving but worth doing.

Random one - does that model have a USB fitting on the radio?

Not sure about the radio. Have a look in the sales brochures for that year.

Tried to film mine this morning to show a comparison. Didn't get the right angle of speed to show it. Will have another go later. Not sure your video has a problem now.

Had another look at your video on a big screen and I don't think there's anything wrong with it. It's not until yer looking at a big screen yer see the front right of the bonnet movement. Also yer slow down a bit when turning left/right quickly. I thought it was all at the same speed which changed my judgement.

Update;
Seller quoted me £122.64 for a cam belt kit with water pump and £150 to fit it. I pushed for the whole lot for £200 and he agreed.
My friend had now questioned whether they have cam belts?

There is a rubber timing belt which needs changed. Its on the side of the engine. There is also a camshaft chain inside. You take the top off the engine to get to that. Not sure if that needs changed. I don't think they change the chain unless it gets noisy. I could be wrong.

It is a rubber timing belt and water pump that need changing.
Google timing belt and water pump for freelander 2 as there is a detailed description of how to do it and what needs changing while the car is stripped down.
My local indy has just quoted £400+vat to do the whole job, timing belt and tensioner, water pump, flush and refill cooling system, fan belt, tensioner, pulley and sensor taking about 3 hours in all.
If they are doing whole job correctly for £200 you have a bargain.

Wow! Thank you very, very, very much for the trouble you have gone to!
I must get you a present....
No need for presents. It's all part of the free help service we provide on ere. Although I've always wanted a baby elephant. If it's too much then a small family of penguins would be quite nice.

One day to go to pickup...

Query: what the +m/s- mean, please?

Also, can't seem to get the parking sensor to work? I have pressed what looks like the button for this but doesn't work? (sorry for the typical newbie questions)

I believe the M/S is manual selection. Push the gear lever left when in D and you can change gear manually by pushing the lever forwards to change up and backwards to change down.

+ and - is up and down the gears in manual mode, the box goes up or down the gears when the lever is pushed to the + or - position.

Just moving the lever over to the manual position and not moving it forward or backwards selects auto sport mode.

There will be a silence button for the parking sensors. The front ones only operate on a shirt distance. Something like 25cm.

2 things to say;
1. This is fantastic!!!! I’m going to try this shortly!!!
2. In the words of my wife - “Why is that option there?”
3. On the way home from buying it, on the motorway, I kept it at 60-70mph and the ‘range’ hardly moved. Is this because with an automatic it can be very efficient to just hover...or is it the digital range display that is not incredibly accurate?
