The diesel auto does feel slow until you get used to it, the long travel on the throttle pedal and the lack of low down power make it feel that way. When you get used to the need to boot it, it's quick enough, much quicker than a Pajero for example. For my money the auto is best as it masks the lack of low down power, and yes if you chip it it will eventually eat the auto box but not the manual. The huge amount of torque is perfect for towing and I'm told for off roading.:D:D
 
Ain't even got a powerbox on mine, and it goes well enough. Gonna do a full service on mine soon including stripping and cleaning inter cooler , may treat it to some glow plugs too :D
 
Hi.

I got my 2.5 DSE last Sept.
Renewed the brakes, new air (arnott) springs, new compressor and it is driving fab.

All the above jobs are easy (once you know how) and as its a p38 relatively cheap.

Still some gremlins, that I will save to do in the summer but a great car.
Make sure you buys something that is nice and straight. The guys on hear really know their stuff and its great.

As for the speed thing. Don't buy a LR if you want speed, go for a BMW.

Remember ensure its nice and straight. and keep £800 in your pocket to make it really nice.

Have just posted my p38 DHSE in the for sale section if you are interested.

(Don't panic folks I am not leaving the fold ... Upgrading to a l322 although I miss the old girl already ... And she isn't even gone! :) )

IMO the L322 is a downgrade, messy over complicated dash and controls, corrosion problems, leaks, and of course all the electrical problems:eek:

Don't say that Data :doh: ... but at least this way there'll be plenty to keep all of us on the Forum busy :)

Was actually thinking of the Cayenne (poor man's porsche?) but the other half was adamant that she looks better in the Range and I had to agree ...

Plus the Cayenne is one of the most hideous cars ever made, along with the original Fiat Multipla.

If you were going along the lines of a Cayenne, why not a RR Sport rather than L322 though?
