I agree the diesel manual has Fook all power under 1500 rpm, but once you get it going its good, I test drove autos and thought they were slower , but of course could be just me
The diesel auto does feel slow until you get used to it, the long travel on the throttle pedal and the lack of low down power make it feel that way. When you get used to the need to boot it, it's quick enough, much quicker than a Pajero for example. For my money the auto is best as it masks the lack of low down power, and yes if you chip it it will eventually eat the auto box but not the manual. The huge amount of torque is perfect for towing and I'm told for off roading.
