I'll start.

I love my Defender, we've got two. But why is the rear crossmember still covered with paint that falls off leaving surface rust after three years.

It would have cost nothing to coat it with something more durable.

Three years???!!! I've got fenders at work with rusty humberside on 64 plates.

Sunroof leaks, ****e electrics and a wet leg when ever it rains oh and rusting chassis and a mayhoosive price tag for what they are

That there catalytic corrosion thing. Rust, leaks, both oil and water ingress, noise levels ergonomics oh and security,,,,,,,,,,,, or at least the lack off it.
That's just off the top of my ed.

Not outright replacing it with an expanded discovery range in 1989? There was already the 7-seater station wagon and 3-door van. A truck cab would have been simple enough on the standard chassis, and a long wheelbase double cab pickup could have been built on the 127" chassis, both using the existing HCPU tub.

I wonder why it was just left as it was, not much has changed since "Defender" name was introduced over twenty years ago.

Maybe it was because they were (and still are) selling all they could make anyway so why bother?

They could have included a more comprehensive tool kit ... including a selection of hammers, otherwise what else would I have had to play with over the past 40 years?
