Disco 1 Thermostat!

After fitting new radiator.water pump.thermostat.
I remover the twin fans that were on.
Now it seems to be running hotter.3/4 on tenp gauge.
Would it help buy removing thermostat.
Or will it be ok.
Any suggestions.

Wellcome to the landyzone,
It would be helpful to tell us what type of Discovery early or late MK 1 and importantly what engine you have fitted,
Do you have aircon? And what fans did you remove?

I've heard taking the stat out can have the opposite effect, something about water flowing to quick for efficient heat transfer

Water is lazy, and if it can take a shortcut via the bypass hose it will, which is why I always smile when people say taking stat out fixed it.

Why remove the twin fans?
sounds like A/C fans anyway.
Is your viscous not working?
And removing the thermostat can make the whole situation worse unless you go to the trouble of taking it out, removing the guts then putting it back in, in which case warm up will be longer!

Disco 1 300tdi.auto.but it's not EDC anymore.
Have removed air con.
So those fans where probably for them.

Would it help buy removing thermostat.
Or will it be ok.
Any suggestions.

Prolly be better back flushing the rad and heater matrix ... then see how it goes ...

many years of gunge can lurk in the waterways ...
