hey Carpy,

You are local so anything you want to know just shout. There is a good group of up down this way.

1, roof rack he you dont plan on using it loose it til you do need it.
2, chequer plate i have the stuff but, leave it alone! Paint it to what ever colour you want but if you take it off you will want it when you use your roof rack trust me.
3. Snorkle make sure its sealed and my preference would be a metal one or even a neat drain pipe jobbie opposed to those stupid plastic things that hang on the side of the vehicle and end up getting ripped off by the nearest tree.

More imortant items are front and rear recovery points, a decent rated rope non kenetic and equally decent selection of rated shackles possibly a short strop or bridal and lots of practise with like minded people

Im sure herts laners will be out and about soon so jump in and get your tyres slightly muddy! Like said before there in no need to go spending get out, enjoy and learn first Jai

cheers for that jai.

i took off the roof rack today. just a needless commodity until i require all the extra space it gives.

its got BF goodrich mud terrain - so wheels are all sorted. im going to get a steering guard with integrated recovery points when finances allow, and will also get rear points, and some rope at the same time.

there's a very decent landy dealership locally. i usually steer clear of them but the one guy there is really knowledgeable, and genuine - and above all cheap so i took it there today and they will be sorting me out some lap straps for the back

if you are going wading, you need a plug for yer flywheel to stop water getting in, and maybe something else, I can't remember :) I'm not sure if you'll already have one?

No worries,

Just shout if you want anything I have loads of odd bits and pieces in the garage so shout first may save you some dosh. Jai

cheers mate. first things i need are the accessories for laning and the like, a decent jack, recovery rope, etc. oh and a bloody steering guard. will try and sort that out asap also!

Why not wash it?

Even better, pay some kid a pound to do it for you.

I think it will look good once that metal monstrosity comes off the top.

Use the money to fit Disco transfer ratio gears.

Nice buy!

Nice one Carpy,
I agree with most of the posts you already got. For some extra suggestions...
You can get some much better roof racks which are black & aluminium, with aerodynamic profiling and mounts for the square lamps.

Those side steps get in the way somewhat, and proper tree sliders will protect the sills / side panels. The Trialing guys even pivot the vehicle round them against stuff (hard to explain) if you try that with those they'll come right off.

All the recovery stuff the lads mentioned. Steering guard, diff guard, Hi-Lift Jack, Jate rings front & back...

New visa card ;-)

We bought our landy for family expeditions so a lot of my mods will be for that as much as trialing / laning. But the ones above are on my list, plus a winch for self-recovery rather than winch competitions.

Hope you enjoy it, she looks a good un!

A CB if you go laning can be handy (I got an Albrecht 6890) side mount antenae, which you put on the back.
