No worries mate, youre welcome. Aint many of these around now, and they can be tricky things, just make sure it doesn't runaway on you and it will probably chug on for a while. It is worth getting the breather out of the air inlet until you are sure it aint blowing too much, cheaper in air filters too!

Saw your pictures and thought you' d kicked my 110, same colour, age, bull bar and lights, but your bar has less rust, Mines been 200'ed new chassis. Build head and doors due to the usual problems

So since I've bought it I haven't done much with it. Changed the oil, took the bull bars and bumper off and stripped them. Had the front left wing off to try sort out the damage to the bottom corner but looks like it needs to be welded or New wing. Started on the rear door removing the scrappy trim to find the frame underneath cracked and rusting. Probably from the spare wheel being mounted on the door. Got it rubbed down and the cracks welded. Welds aren't too great but it's only my second time to use a welder so I'm happy enough. Next paint it and a ply panel with a shelf.

Those frames aren't bad for that age, often they are just stuff you can crumble with your fingers. Just keep going with the welding, you will improve. Might be good to rub down more of the frame and make plates to overlap or cut in to the holes. Gets you onto some better stuff to weld.

Mine is 1998 and I am amazed that the door is still there, I reckon a good 60% has rusted away

When I got mine the frames used to trickle out in crumbs onto the sill every time you closed the doors

I bodged them up with filler and metal rods for a few years, then I found some solid second hand ones. Drivers side has a bent frame from coming open and hitting a post( before I had it!). But there is no rust at all in the frames.

I wish I had just got the series doors really, I drove series for many years ithout finding the windows were a problem. And the series ones are much cheaper and more available.

I stuck an air gun into the frame and got a cloud of brown dust. But still fairly solid. The thickness of the metal made it quite difficult and I blew a few holes but got them fixed. The aluminum strip holding the window in was rotten so have to replace that. Had started rubbing down the chassis but decided to wait till I got paint before continuing.

Am looking at getting a mig meant to be easier to get a good weld. The little aldi arc is capable enough for the moment.

Mig is much better on thin steel. Stick welder is fine for girders and stuff.

Gave the back door a lick of paint on the inside. Only meant to paint what would be behind the ply but got carried away!
Also picked up a new(er) set of seats with all mats and other bits.
Collecting a set of 8 spoke steel rims with insa turbo Sahara's tomorrow.

So I've done a bit more this weekend. Started on the camper conversion. Have re plyed some of the rear, a fold out bed / bench seat made. And for today the shelving , sink and cooker.

Some pictures of what I've been up to.

When I get the camper side of the build sort I was gona paint the chassis and I was wondering if spraying or brushing would be better? Both will be messy but will spraying get at more without taking the back off?

So I haven't updated this in a while. Since my last post I've:
-Almost finished the campervan work
-Converted it legally on the tax book.
-It's been through the Irish version of the mot.( which it passed second time around due to headlight aimed to high and needing engineers certainly for previous welding on the chassis)
-Got the insa turbo Sahara's onto it.
- fitted New(to me) seats and mats.
- One of the insa's self destructed so ended up replacing the whole lot with 31*10.50 bfg at's.

Done almost 8k miles since I got it last Jan and had very few issues. I do a round trip of almost 400miles since Xmas every weekend most of which is motorway and it handles it just fine. A bit slowly but fine.
-starter motor stuck on a few times.
- let the battery die a few times (my fault twice the the frost killed it 3 or 4 times)
- wipers broke.
I have two good condition doors ready to go on with new hinges , new windscreen seal and have the paint ready to go. Just need the time to get doing it.
I'll be painting it with Upol raptor bedliner so should be a bit different.. watch this space...

Have had a crazy year with work but managed to get quite a bit done (considering the time i had available) and hoping to make a good stab at it this xmas with time off and a chunk of cash.
Since last update:
New battery
Changed diff, transfer and gear box fluids
Painted the exterior in Black U-Pol Raptor bed liner
New windscreen and seal
Got early defender doors, the ones with lift up handles and wind up windows which I had repaired and matching strikers
New hinges
New door cards and lock cylinders
New headlamp upgrade
New fuel tank inc new sender and fuel return
Welded up, cleaned, rust converted and sprayed chassis with dinitrol kit
Picked up not one but two 200tdi engines to change the 19J with. (One 200tdi is from a defender and the other from a disco)
