Do you think you might have been driving home from the fells in difflock? That’s great to know for next time thanks, yes I will use the warranty this time, but I guess the Engineer in me wants to understand what has gone wrong and what to look out for next time, and ultimately how to repair it mysef if possible thanks everyone. Can’t wait to get Rory back on the road again
It would but a new owner might not be aware of the possible consequenses of running with it engaged on the road, and a valid thought by Al203.The diff lock light would be showing on the dash?
Was thinking it might be a question asked by the garage! It would but a new owner might not be aware of the possible consequenses of running with it engaged on the road, and a valid thought by Al203.
Very easily done, Mick. Difflock lights can be a bit temperamental anorl. Garage might decide OP's to blame if he comes across as not knowing the potential consequences of using difflock on the road.Easy done as a new defender owner. Trying all the levers and buttons not really knowing the consequences.
Did they ask what you had been doing with it?Na definitely wasn’t driving home in diff lock - didn’t have it out of high speed non diff lock since I picked it up.
The diagnosis was wrecked front diff... no idea what part of the diff, just that the garage looked inside and said there wasn’t much in there
That's an embarrassing thing to come out with We know they are not specifically designed for motorway driving, but they do it right enough.Yes, they asked if I had been off roading to which I honestly answered that I parked in the Walna Scar Park which is A sketchy car park, but I was parked between a Kia and a BMW 3 series - so it’s hardly off road if that makes sense. And then it was just road driving... Didn’t use the low speed of diff lock at all.
The guy who collected it seemed more concerned about the 70 miles on the motorway, suggesting they ‘aren’t designed for that’ :-/
