A series three as with a defender is pretty much ready to go straight outta the box. However that sed I would recommend at least one decent tow rope/strop rated in excess of the weight of your vehicle and the recovering vehcile. Then you need some where to attach it to on yer motor. Try searching paddocks/craddock/dls for recovery eyes. Then you will need summit to attach the above so a couple oif shackles would be useful. That little lot should cost you less than bout £50 and mean the difference between getting stuck and getting shafted.
Also heffers will tell you never go out alone!Any way its much better to go with some one else.

Excellent advice from Goonarmy.

To add to that I would suggest making sure that when you buy shackles, you buy the heavy duty ones, and that the recover strap that you buy is the best that you can afford, rated in excess of 5 ton.

Better still only buy certificated lifting strops as they have a 7:1 safety factor, So a 2tonne strop has a breaking strain of 14tonnes. do not buy towing strops at all not even 5 tonne ones, as they are not rated and the 5tonne limit is the kerbweight of a road vehicle been towed on tarmac not the weight of a stuck landy.

discos, n rangies weigh in about 2.2 tons dont they?Tie two togheter you int far off the 5 ton limit. Then add some momentum and very sticky mud......somethings gotta give.
