I know we're all taking the mickey and we always take the mickey out of Sports , but he is enjoying it just a bit much. Especially for someone who seems to have never seen one up close before, as he is surprised that it is an automatic. Taking the mickey is one thing but a jealousy borne glee is quite different.

That is a right comedy of errors, how not to try and recover a motor, had a good giggle at that:D

Lol, video must be working now , didn’t think it was

Wonder how many panels get ripped off at the end of a winch, as I imagine to break that free from suction will take a fair bit of force

His attitude did grate a bit when I watched the vid. It's still a green oval and deserves better. Manual or auto wouldnt help anyway when you're beached to the floorpan so hes got as much of a clue as the owner.

All the same, it is a Chelsea chav Choo Choo and the owner is completely incompetent so it's probably a form of euthanasia for the poor car :p

ive stripped range rovers and others that have been submerged in sea water, seats look ok but all the wire and springs rots away

Was also thinking of the seat frames inside and if they would ultimately be ruined

Suppose plastic trims might be ok, chassis maybe after being dipped and throughly cleaned and treated ???

Indeed ref the electrics , also I imagine all the mechanics are finished as well ??

But as you’ve taken them apart u have alot more experiance of what can be salvaged

One can only hope that now her Chavtor has been put out of it's misery she is never allowed another green oval.
Maybe the reason his attitude irks me so is because even Sport is family. I draw the line at ejoke though tenor (2).gif

mechanicals can generally be salvaged/rebuilt,things like diff but auto box would be stuffed, chassis is ok as you say after a good rinse and wax as would body etc

Surely the engine would also be finished , unless of course he hydrolocked it

also I suppose it greatly depends how quick the parts are removed , stripped and cleaned as if they can be reused or not

Still intrigued really if the ins will pay out on that , as in a clause of not taking a vehicle on a beach, ( of course don’t know if that exclusion is there or not )

as long as its stripped completely fairly soon it could be rebuilt, though crushing would be the most expedient

Finally managed to see this. It reminds me of years ago at Barassie beach. There are dunes and deep soft sand, with signs up all over the place saying don't drive on the dunes. So a BMW 5 series driver decided to ignore the signs and park in the dunes. He sat for a while in his car, enjoying the beach, then tried to get out of the dunes. One stuck BMW then needs recovered. Around an hour later a small recovery truck arrives and drives on to the dunes, to recover the BMW. Because his truck , which ks heavier than the BMW isnt going to get stuck, is it. As I was there windsurfing, I was still around for the next bit. Which occured another 2hrs in. Here comes recovery truck number two, which, yep youve guessed it, was driven on to the dunes.
By now a little crowd had gathered and most of us had stopped playing in the water to come watch, one very embarrassed BMW driver and two very embarrassed recovery drivers. Three hours later the big truck arrived and oddly enough , didn't go on the dunes!
Almost 7hrs after he decided to leave, Mr BMW got a round of applause as he finally drove off. Dont think he would've ignored the no cars in the dunes signs for a while

Makes sense now why the copper was telling them to stop trying to rescue it, saying how people were in danger.

Cheers

Looked to me like they were dead pulling probably 5 tons of vehicle and water, stuck in sand, with a winch and hook with loads of people in close proximity. I am
Sure one guy even steps over the tensioned wire. Not a winch blanket etc in sight.
