thanks to royal mail landy off the road due to waiting for spares to arrive, still more people worst off.
do you begrudge them the right to withdraw their labour ?
as far as i know slavery has been done away with in this country
i wouldn't deny anyone the right to withold there labour. Bit when your striking cause your employer has asked you to work all the hours your been paid to work that's out of order. Postoffice must be the only profession where job & knock is seen as a right and not a bonus

wouldn't object to the odd day or 2, but a whole week's takin the **** a bit.
do you know why they're always hurrying along when they're delivering? (ours runs like e's doing a marathon, jumping over garden fences to save time going up all the drives/through gates ) - because as soon as they've finished their round, they can go home - regardless of how long it takes. - so if they're finished in 5 hours, they still get paid for 8 hours. AND if they then go back to work in the depot they get paid overtime for this even though its still within their normal 8 hours
I wouldn't mind gettin paid twice for doin the same job
My mate runs a small mail order business & he's virtually had to shut for 10 days - cost him a fortune
I fink I heard one guy say " i was told I cud retire at 60 - now I will have to retire at 65 with a reduced pension".
so whats new - why shd the PO be exempt from world financial hiccups - most other folk have to work till 65 and will not have as good a pension as was envisaged 10 years ago.
we still aint had any post since the strike started - wonder how much is going to go "missing"?
whoever told you that is talking bollox.our local postie has been one for 35 years and has been told he's gonna have to work another 5 years and then get a reduced pension - if they just accepted it ? ......... what next would the employers try on ?
Job and knock in the building game isn't that common anymore. mainly because everyone's either self employed or a subcontractor. It's mainly weekend ot jobs that get the job & knock treatment.

it's illegal to change pension benefits in that way.
at most, the standard retirement age has been increased by 5 years (like thousands of other pension schemes) and if he chooses to retire early, he will, of course, get less pension than if he worked the extra 5 years. if he's already got 35 years accrued benefits, those can't be touched.
perhaps these posties want a clocking in and out machine then it would be a fair days work for the actual hours they work then if there is a problem they could get paid for what they work my postie starts at 6am and should finish at 2pm has said before he can always finish by 12.30 so 1.30 x 5 =7.30 per week over paid those other hours could be used helping others as he still gets paid for them. NOT ROCKET SCIENCE
am assuming yer think rocket science is difficult by yer statement, when infact its very simple.perhaps these posties want a clocking in and out machine then it would be a fair days work for the actual hours they work then if there is a problem they could get paid for what they work my postie starts at 6am and should finish at 2pm has said before he can always finish by 12.30 so 1.30 x 5 =7.30 per week over paid those other hours could be used helping others as he still gets paid for them.
