Does anyone know what the different options actually do, ie what changes are made?
Seems some of the options affect throttle response, auto select height, hill descent and low box etc.
But what about ABS, TC, shock absorbers etc, do we know what changes each selection makes?
Is anything else impacted, airbags crosslinked etc? Any changes in the gearbox itself?
Probably other things i haven't even thought of!

I did read elsewhere on the internet.. you must not use low range on tarmac. Didn't say why so could will be rubbish.
I can't see why? It's just a different gear ratio.. isn't it? Or does that make other changes 'under the hood' too?

no thats true obviously it was icy last week and when I went to mum it was back roads so wasn't gritted
thought I'd just pop in ice and see what it done but like said it didn't spin the wheels so much that was in my 4.2 supercharger

I'm not sure on that one mate I left mine in high range but didn't go to quick think most was 30-40 on back roads till hit main roads

it like you said it just alters the ratio wouldn't recommend doing 50+ in low range though
I can imagine it wasn't designed for that, the strains under the gearing must be immense.
It was much simpler when you had a physical lever and a diagram. Now you've no clue what changes are actually being made when you make an electronic selection

Even my file doesn't give to much away.

Alot seems to be in throttle response and torque, I.E map changes for different.

Some turn of certain features and changes the sensitivity or threshold before it happens, transmission uses different gears, center diff is electronic control variable. also suspension response changes. Certain things happen different again in low box.
Off course HDC uses ABS in reverse (if that makes sense)

Its all a bit "black magic" stuff:)

Unlikely you have rear locking diff its was an expensive option, and if you think the gearbox oil is alot of money, apparently the diff oil is:eek::eek:.

Best I can do till the site is sorted:D.

That's a lot to read through!!
I've not actually looked, it's not been the weather for it! But I'm sure when i went through all the options, i saw a green/unlocked icon over the rear diff.. though maybe that's just to trick you, ie never goes red

Its 9 pages that doesnt really explain your question, just gives teasers:eek:.

I believe that is the case with the rear diff lock:). Thats not to say you dont have the option.
How to tell not sure except get a build sheet from the dealer.

Vindecoders says i don't have it, but it also says i have a 'emergency spare wheel' in fact it's a full size, but likely correct on the diff as not easy to change later

I'd just leave the TR control on normal, and let the computer sort it out.
There are minor changes on the various settings, all of which alter many systems slightly.
I like sand mode, as it adds lots of extra punch to the throttle, although it's not good for the AWD, at it locks the centre diff too.

Tend to agree but I'm that annoying person that likes to know what's happening :p
