It all started with a post about not being able to get a good fit for a baby seat in the rear of our P38.
Never did manage to do it and family talk turned to the idea that after 6 years ownership, maybe grandad would be better off with a more modern car.
Next we tried fitting the baby seat to Mrs C's Rav 4 which was even worse. Neither car has IsoFix you see.
So what we needed was a new fleet management strategy..........The whole prospect of selling the Rangie was like selling a member of the family and with the Rav being worth a little more than we paid for it 2 years ago, the easy option was for that one to go, which it did, surprisingly easily.
But what to get next? Other than the requirement for IsoFix and for my son to consider it 'modern enough,'
we had no strong feelings on the subject. So we opened a bottle of wine, opened up ebay and set forth.
How about a Yeti? or a newer Rav 4? Something Korean and anonymous? By the end of the night we had plumped for............. Another Land Rover product of course. A '10' Freelander 2 HSE Auto. Good price, to reflect that the timing belt would want doing soon. Next came the mission to collect it. All went smoothly as it has to this day. Belt is now done, the whole car detailed as well as I am able to do it and with a couple of new tyres we now have a new MOT as well. That was a couple of months ago and so far so good.
Idea is for the FL to become the main family car whilst the Rangie gets a sideways promotion to become the commuter for my part time job and also a rolling resto project to get it ready for the show season which looks like it is going to happen this year. To be fair I had let things slip of late. O rings want doing, as does the headlining. There have been some funny messages on the dash lately and some lacquer rash on the roof.
Most of this I can do myself (when the weather gets warmer). It is still a lovely car, just needs a bit of TLC which I am looking forward to giving it.
