P38A Temp sensor

You can undo them carefully with a pair of water pump pliers they should not be tight.
i know its a bit dodge artist but needs must some times.
 
I've ordered a 12mm key - it'll arrive tomorrow.

Pending that, though, Just wanted to check if theres anything else I could be doing/looking at/etc to diagnose what the problem is.
 
I would say 99% the stat is open all the time, thats why the heater wont get hot and the gauge barely moves. its just over cooling.

Overcooling might be better than overheating though.. despite it resulting in being somewhat more thirsty haha

So.. Finally got around to do this.
Looks like the old stat is definitely the issue, though haven't put the new one on yet trying to decide if I want to replace any hoses.

The old stat has failed internally - the legs that hold the pin true have snapped, with the spring then forcing the seal permanently open.
