Hi All,
Having done all the service items recently, I’m moving on to irritating things:
1. Is the temperature gauge a ‘proper’ one or is it one of those ‘Cold, OK, Ha too late sucker’ as in my XK8? If the latter is there a LR equivalent of the Real Gauge kit?
2. Door mirrors. Every so often they play up as in not folding back out, either just one or both. Sometimes not folding in. I’ve always been able to resolve it but clearly something is amiss. Trying the switch several times when this is happening, I can hear what I assume is a relay clicking. Is this the time out relay? So, any pointers would be appreciated.
Cheers,
M.

Mine do that every now and then. I firmly finger tap all the fuses on the driver's side, knee position fuse box, and eventually they start working again. I've always assumed a bad earth or a bad connection going into the fuse box. Just the other day the passenger side mirror unit went a bit floppy, presumably someone gave it a hard slap in one of the car parks I've visited recently. So I mught be forced to investigae more deeply.

The temperature gauge is normalised, so it reads in the middle when the engine is within its normal operating range of 70°C to 116°C. Lower than 70°C and above 35°C will register as ⅔ on the gauge, which will be the thermostat sticking open.
Above 116°C will put the gauge at maximum and put the warning light on too.
