TDCI Puma 110 XS. Aircon condensate in pass footwell

Hi All
I've just purchased my 2014 Defender XS 110 and used the aircon yesterday for the first time and only for 15 min.
After turning off the beast and returning some time later, I noticed that there was about an eggcup amount of water lying in a pool in the passenger footwell towards the left side under the dash.
I understand that this is a common 'fault' but one that I'm not going to put up with.
Can the more enlightened of you give me any pointers/pictures etc of what to check to alleviate this condensate issue.
I'm fairly competent with spannering etc but am unfamiliar with Defenders having only just bought it.

Your drain plug could well be bunged with crud which will stop the condensate from draining out.

try a search
 
Most a/con rubber drains have a rubber nipple on the end, best thing to do is remove it and bin it.
 
It's either the drain tube blocked as suggested - Bit of wire poked in from underneath.

Or the return pipe gets cold inside the cab and condensation forms on it and drips on your passengers foot. Not a lot you can do about that as UK air is quite moist but once the AC has dried the air (on recycle) then the drips will stop. Or you could try wrapping pipe insulation around the return pipe to stop it getting cold on the outside.
 
You should address that soon indeed. My 97 300tdi is almost a rust free Landy, people who drop by to see the it are amazed at its condition.

The only rust found on the bulkhead and quite a bit of it is the lower part where the blower/fan was mated to the bulkhead. The AC had to be leaking condensation there and was being absorbed and kept by the stupid sponge like material LR placed there.

I decided to cut out that part and replace the metal than sand and paint it. Being I. Canada for nearly 30 years and freezing 6 months a year, I decided to rip out the entire AC system entirely saving a ton of weight, fuel and engine drag. Yours is new, don't do that :D

It's hot here but I would just roll the windows down and be ok with that.
 
I think it's just something that happens with aircon units. Mine does that sometimes, but it seems to be made up of condensation forming on the cold parts of the heat exchanger rather than a leak as such.
 
Quick google reveals the condensate pipe exits the cab directly over the gearbox and theres virtually no room for it.
 
Here’s a photo to show what you are feeling about for. You need to get under car, feel about above gearbox and there is an rubber pyramid mounted on the underside of the floor. Poke it and enjoy the shower!
