Morning All,

I'm after a bit of advice and help if possible.

The viscous fan clutch on my TD6 has broken away from the metal plate on the fan blade assembly.

Advice..... Can I remove the fan assembly and drive the car without it? I still have the electric fan at the front? Is this sufficient to cool the radiator?

Help.... Does anyone know a part number for the fan blade unit. I don't need the viscous clutch as I can use the one I have which is still reasonably new. I've had a look on eBay but cant seem to find the fan blade unit on its own. I guess I could search for a BMW one? Are they the same size?

Many thanks in advance.

Peter

You can see from this picture that the metal plate fallen apart. I moved all the bolts round one into the next hole along while I have been looking for a new one and that bit of metal has also failed.

Electric fan is for the aircon, not sure if it operates as back up cooling in an overheat on the L322. Could be modified to use as cooling.

I've been to Land Rover today and had to order the fan blades. They are sold separately luckily so I don't have to pay their price for the viscous unit.

I did think about welding and reinforcing but the plate is buckled now and I imagine if its not straight it could put pressure on the pulley bits and bobs as it spins. But like an unbalanced wheel you can feel through the steering.

Thanks for your replies. Much appreciated.
