Hi my discovery 2 td5 seems to be lacking in power and struggles to excellerate, there seems to be no boost at all. I have no noises or smoke. Is there any other reason that this could be happening?

Thanks

There can be many reasons for lack of power on a Td5 and the turbo is one of the last suspects, engine management issues are more common which can be caused by one of the sensors involved in fuelling calculations or can be low fuel pressure as well, this issue needs proper diagnosis preferable with nanocom or similar... first of all reveal some important things: the year of your Td5(Eu2 or Eu3 engine), manual or auto, EGR disabled or not

No turbo, tops put at about 60 with tons of smoke
No fuel pump horrible to start, will not rev over 4000 or under 2000 and tops out about 70

First was tighten jubilee clip properly
Second new fuel pump

Car runs fine on tick over and starts on the button, if I drive for 5 mins and turn it off then start up and drive again it really struggles to excellerate for about 5 - 10 seconds then goes ok but still seems sluggish under load

You really do need live data on a diagnostic. Mine did similar but it took the live data to be sure it needed a new MAP/IAT sensor.

Hi all discovered the problem on the old girl, it turned out to be a seized pulley on the AC compressor. Swapped it out for a new one and all is good she running 100% better and smoother and has the excelleration back.
Massive thanks to everyone for your replies it's good to have a network of people willing to help 😀
