Are you replacing the set with an identical one? If so to enter the code, press the pre-set button #1 and use the up/down tuning button to enter the first number. Then press the #1 preset button to store it. Repeat with pre-set buttons 2, 3 and 4 to enter the full code. Your radio is now set.

Thanks for that. the stereo is the same except the last 3 letters of the code on the back. does that matter?
Mines XQD000110LNF, the other ends PUY..

The three letter suffix on the end of a Part Number is the colour code.

LNF = Ash Grey

PUY = Black

Pre-Facelift Discovery II's have an Ash Grey Facia, Binnacle and Switches.

Post-Facelift Discovery II's have a Black Facia, Binnacle and Switches.

There's not too much difference between 'Ash Grey' and 'Black'

Here's a picture of my Ash Grey Binnacle, with a Black Fuel Flap Release Switch fitted -

If you go to Land Rover's TOPIx website, select your vehicle model and year, then choose 'Owner' - you can download the User Handbook and the ICE Handbook for free.

The ICE Handbook is here -

Nice one, yes got the radio friday and theres not much in the colour difference..Seems to work ok, just waiting for sturgess landrover to get back to me with the code so i can get it working now..

Also, have searched the web and found no one seems to do these radios, when you go on the site to get the radio code, they say put in the 14 digit s/n code but as you may be aware these are 16 digit.. not that easy to get codes...grrrr

What you do if you don’t have the code, is there a way to reset on a TD5?

Depending on where you are in the world, and if the head unit is the factory fitted one, u could pop into your friendly LR main dealer and ask if they could could find the code on their vehicles build data base, u may be lucky.

Much easer to remove the unit and take it to a repair shop…if they still exist, who should be able to read the chip and replace or remove the code.

Also I believe there are people on line that could tell you, base on the model and its serial number for a small charge of course.
