my 110 td5 was starting great until a couple of days ago,i'm thinking its something to do with running the fuel down low, as i let the light come on before filling up. it pump is noisey when you turn the keys on so think air in system have tried purging it but no difference. once running its fine and starts first time but if you leave over night it doesnt want to start until you turn the keys on and off 3 or 4 times, gonna change the fuel filter as this over due, but anyone any other ideas?

I take it you mean having the engine turning over when you do this???

Fuel filter is good to change, You may want to look at the air bleed valve in the filter housing. I changed my entire filter housing as it was corroded to hell.

But it does sound like the injector washers and seals may also be on your list, if you do, then buy genuine seals and washers.
Cheers

thought i had cured the issue by replacing fuel filter, started fine first thing yesterday and today, but the problem is when the landy is left for several hours it wont start, you have to turn it over 5 or six times before it catches. today it was left 2.5 hours. it starts fine if you turn it off and restart right away.

this has all happened since i ran the the fuel low and allowing the fuel light to come on.

Anyone any other ideas?

id change the air bleed valve in rear outer connector on filter head
shopping

and remove pump from tank unclip the canister and clean screens and check one way valve on bottom of canister is sealing

This sounds like you may have a small leak on one of the hoses on top of the pump, it used to happen a lot on the disco 1 and 2, or as suggested air bleed valve but I would still check for air getting in via leak overnight, it was a classic cause of poor starting.
