Just finished rebuiling the engine in my Defender and all back together but for the life of me I can't remember which wires are which for going onto the starter. I seem to have 3??? My Dad's Disco only has one.

Just that it's so long ago since I took it apart as was waiting on oversize pistons and other bits and then had a bike accident in the summer so was in hospital and out of action with a broken leg and arm upto recently lol

Anybody able to answer the silly question of which ones are which :D

Awesome! Looks like I was right so then :)

Trouble is though when all connected that way, there's nothing at all when turn the key and the temp gauge is reading hot too when ignition is turned on which may mean there's a short somewhere. Loom was only disconnected from the engine to remove it and gearbox left in place so shouldn't really have any cause to have bad earths.

Fuel pump is priming and everything else working fine by the looks of it and fuel pump will go into prime mode when accelerator pressed 5 times like normal too

Have you checked all your earths?

Make sure they are good clean and tight.

After that I would start checking to see if I am getting voltage where I should step by step.

Cheers
