Td5 silicon coolant hoses

Hi Folks anyone fitted a set to a 15p motor of the great bay of e
After spending a kidney getting head gasket done the pipe from radiator to the thermostat picked it's bat and ball up and stopped playing so I plan to change anything I can get me fat fingers too any input greatly appreciated

All mine are cheap ebay hoses, I guess silicone is silicone at the end of the day, im fairly certain they are 3 layer too.
Don't question it, just do it, aside from the great looks they should last a whole lot longer, might be worth upgrading the hose/spring clamps too as they are a little more slidey.

Ur not wrong ref the clamps , I’ve used the T bolt clamps on my silicone hoses and indeed found them a lot better, know my hoses are different but concept the same , lol

Hi

Must admit apart from being very practical there’s also that peace of mind, the short hose on mine is a pig to fit , the clamps are stainless steel so wanted something that would last and not have to worry about them coming off with ordinary clamps

Advantage with them having a wide band really do help secure the hoses down and prevent any leaks and think it’s a very worthwhile mod to do

Thanks gstuart. The only thing that keeps me from purchasing them for my V8 is the dodgy looking bleed port area...

I had silicone hoses on my disco and was forever nipping the t bolt clamps up. Mikalor clamps not cheap ****. Hoses always coming loose and easy to pull off.
I'll replace with genuine standard when I need to now.

Looks pretty similar to the one on my hoses, its a stainless steel screw with an o ring on it, only needs to be hand tight and seems a lot better than the original on the td5. I think it is possible to buy them with an actual stainless steel section of pipe with a welded bleed nipple but I see no problem with this one.

Thats odd, I only used standard spring clamps and some normal jubilee clips and never had a problem. I was thinking next time I would fit with the t bolt clamps though, but standards held real tight.

My T bolt clamps have been on over a year now and so far so good , saw them on the D3 forum and haven’t heard any issues

Had to use 2 x jubilee clips because the T bolt clamp were to wide, bought the stainless steel jubilee clips then all the rest T bolts

@gstuart @Jamiegreen I was stumped myself.
Like I said, quality mikalor clamps and the hoses were from raptor4x4 so doubt they were too cheap and nasty lol. Cleaned all the pipe ends with brake cleaner before fitting so no residue or anything. It was more the clamps than the pipes I think. Just had to be nipped up constantly. I checked em every week when checking oil etc and they were almost always slightly looser, intercooler to intake especially. Weird

Bizarre , Indeed know what u mean ref the clamps being good quality ,

When I recheck mine if i find there’s issues of them coming loose will just put some thread lock on the clamps

Thanks for all the advise folks going to do the BMW coolant tank mod first to warn of any coolant loss then when fund allow silicon hoses and decent clamps
Fitted a standard pipe for time being and all seems well

Quick question, do you have a part number for the BMW coolant tank? or what model vehicle its from?

If you do a search, I did say what model mine came from, iirc , maybe wrong, but it was a bmw 325i, but it has been listed what e number the engine was as welll.
