Now a piston ring question:
I have read the above...but still a little unclear. Rings I buy from turners will fit my 16p pistons..? as sounds like only earlier 10p model pistons have the different rings...?
Any clarification before I drop 125 quid on new rings would be excellent

As james mentions put the rings into the bores (carefully) and measure the ring gaps with feeler gauges, if they are on tolerance I would re use the rings, clean out the ring grooves in the pistons carefully, and clean the rings but don't mark them, put them back the same way up as you removed them. check the bores and see if they are marked or damaged, I bet you will still be able to see the hone Mark's, if so then they are probably ok.

Thanks for all that chaps.
From our discussion earlier in the week think our engines are in similar condition. 125k on mine and can still see the hone marks. All the tollerances i have measured have been well within spec.
Why reuse the old the rings though? I was thinking if im going to go to all the trouble of a full overhaul i might as well give new rings...

so time coming to take the pistons out...
What are thoughts on here about puting new rings in and not re honing cylinders?
My cylinders are in good shape...can see the cross hatchings. Just thought i might as well put new rings in if im changing bearings.
Alot of advice online for other engines/perfoamnce engines is to always rehone cylinders if changing rings..
