hi all new on here just collected my td5 90 from dealer after warranty work and they have filled oil 2/3mm over top mark on dipstick is this a problem? any help on this thanks mick

for first three years of ownership my TD5 would come back from the landy dealers after services with the oil level way past the hi mark. eejits. (also, handbrake over tightened, airbox not attached to anything, stereo broken etc etc)

Anyway, just undo the plug a wee bit, catch some oil in a coffee tin or whatever and bob is very much your uncle.

hi again i went to b/q bought some thin tube got an old syringe and sucked it up the dipstick tube 10mins work thanks for your help mick

there's another side to the story, some people say, after oil change, fill up to high mark, crank engine, check, top up till high mark again while running. this way the engine never runs low on oil unless it has a major leak.

ive never heard of checking the oil when running ive always been told to check it before starting when its cold
