i need some urgent help !
i havent adjusted turbo on my mums td5 yet, but i have been running engine oil,
the battery has been running flat as i left the door open one day, i have since been charging it up all the time, and recentlly its not been firing, the engine turns over fast enough, just not starting up, the other day the fuel pump was whining like crazy so i changed the fuel filter as i thought this was it, since this it fired up, but has started not starting again !, it has stopped whining but i need some help on what to change next, coult it be fuel pump/injectors/ something else ? headgasket ? any help would be great

put a voltmeter on the battery while you crank it and if the voltage drops under 11V then put a new/strong battery cos the starter "eats" the power and the ECU doesnt work on lower voltage(the fact that the starter spins it up doesnt mean there's enough power left for the ECU)

Why:confused:

ok but thing is, its a 110 amp battery and it looks fairly new ?,
when i was jumping it off another car, it still took ages to fire up ? like loads of revolutions ?

a good 110AH battery doesnt have to run flat on open doors(as already said by Shifty)...the courtesy lamps are on for not more than 10 minutes... and if the battery has an internal failure it will drain the other battery too and wont let the voltage to rise. ... you have check the voltage on it while cranking to make sure... or do as you think if you dont believe us

right i checked it, it drops to 9v ? what do you reckon ?
when idling it sits at around 13.9 ? and when you rev it doesnt increase, and with lights and wipers on it decreases

then borrow a known good strong battery and try then..... if it will fire up(and i have a strong feeling that it will) u can buy a new one....if not we'll speak then..... nothing is 100% certain with a Land Rover, that's a fact which is 100% certain:D

Any one think to check glowplugs, or timer It is getting cold out there now for the hard starting, glow plugs should be first to check. but a 850cca battery sure helps. Read where he had a 110amp battery, My lawn tractor has a 250cca battery

still doing it.. struggling to start, its had 40 quids worth of diesel in it, its turning over fast enough, fuel pump ?
