Td5 m&s lights flashing engine wont turn over

Hi to all. Been awhile since i posted. Yesterday parked up my td5 auto(99) as normal and no problems.Returned to vehicle 5mins later and vehicle wouldnt turn over and the M&S warning lights were flashing.Took selector out of park to roll vehicle as blocking a driveway no problem selecting park,neutral but selector flashed when other gears selected.Today i have charged battery and still wont turnover( havent checked voltage but appears to be ok as headlamps are bright) also disconnected battery reconnected and still m&s lights flashing when turn on ignition.disconnected earth to body and reconnected no luck there either.Last week did have the three amigos fault wiped would this have anything to do with it?Really hope there is a solution that would be possible for mysef to do as things stand,Would be grateful for any possible advice> thanks Ant

does it crank at all? the key battery may need to be changed .

No nothing, just a click as if battery was flat or if you mistakenly turn over if still in drive.key still activates doors , immobilizer etc

You need to check fault code as it could be a number of thIngs as mine did something similar it was the xy switch

If it was the xy switch, would it more likely go into limp mode as opposed to not starting at all????

Mine would not start or turn over as it thought it was in drive when it was in park

Update!!! PROBLEM SOLVED""""Checked battery all ok.power going to starter,But starter stuck gave it a little tap and hey presto!!! engine turned straight over.Flashing M&S lights all extinguished.Thanks for all replies.Ant

the starter would have been my next suggestion, you should have the starter fixed . there are repair kits available
