I'm running out of fingers and toes to count the problems I have had with my TD5 Defender. Last week I changed the fuel filter (have rechecked seals etc) and air filter- admittedly I did forget to plug back the electrical sensor on the air intake for 3 days.
Since then,(coincidence or not) I have experienced loss of power (the landy not me). When I start her up, I can hear a difference in tick-over noise, when driving the gear stick vibrates more, I have even had to put her in low ratio when going up some steep little hills, loss of power more noticeable in higher gears. Has anybody got any ideas?
I have checked oil levels, filter seals etc, Im scratching my head and dont really want to pay landrover to plug her in and charge me a fortune. I read in my workshop manual that if the sensor fails, such conditions could be seen, is this possible.
Any advice, suggestions appreciated:confused:

Try fitting a genuine landrover fuel filter. There have been a few problems with cheap makes.

pretty sure it has nothing to do with filters, someone has suggested i should change the injector harness, does this sound like good advice???

Is there oil contamination in it? Take the red plug off the ecu and see if there is any sign of oil. If there is YES it would be worthwile. If there isn't it should be ok. If you have only just changed the fuel filter and it is a non genuine I would try that first though.

thanks for the reply
fuel filter was from Paddocks and is a Britpart! I have checked that no old seals are left in there.
fuel pump is fairly noisy but has been for ages
will check ECU plug today
Thanks again

They don't call em ****part for nothing. There have been quite a few cases of people having problems with their fuel filters. Put a decent fuel filter on and the fuel pump should quieten down too.
