Right my key fob is playing up the lock button came off but i could still use it by putting something in the hole and pressing, and the unlock button was working ok, then i went to unlock the car today and fob not working at all so i though i would replace the battery, fitted it and the led flashes for about 10 seconds, but the fob still doesnt work ?

it's possible that coincidentally the roof receiver has failed too, as long as the LED flashes it means that the fob is transmitting, dont you have a second fob?(that would be very recommended)... for the casing you find repair kit on ebay

I take it you used a good quality battery, some of the cheapo pound shop ones are ot worth the opening of the packet.
At what point did the 10 seconds of flashing last? when you pressed the key fob button? or when you opened the door?

Cheers

The flashing occured on the fob when i inserted the battery, but when i press the button there is no red light on the fob ? i dont have a second fob, yes the battery was a panasonic ?

If there is no red light on the fob when you press either button, ( try both ) then either the battery is NOK, or the fob is NOK.

Try another battery, just in case. do you have another fob?

I take it you know your EKA code , so you can at least drive the car.

Cheers

The EKA code,

A ) Either in your paperwork, it is a 4 digit alphanumeric code.

B) From LR dealer, with proof of ownerwhip.

C) On line from a website, cost is approx £20.

Problem with above, is that it can be changed , and it may no longer be the original number anymore.

Or if the car is not immobilised then can be read with a nanocom.

Try taking the PCB out of the fob case and pressing the lock AND unlock buttons, does the red led light up?

Cheers

OK,

well, then the only choice you have at the moment is to get the EKA code, from one of the above. I take it your drivers door lock works with a key. Otherwise you will not be able to enter the EKA code.

Once you have done that you can lock with the key and drive normally. Then you can find someone to program 2 new fobs for you if you want, or change the alarm system to allow you to unlock the car without setting off the alarm.

One of the reasons I advise new members when they introduce themselves as D2 owners to get 2 working fobs and know the EKA code. not too bad for you if it is on your drive, but this can happen when you are far away from home.

Cheers

If you do not need to drive the car for a few days, then there is the option of sending your FOB away to get it repaired.

cost is about £15 / 20 , for 24 / 48 hours turnaround.

This was mentioned recently on another thread.

Cheers
