my clutch on my 2006 td5 90 done 93k slips now and again in 4th and 5th but I also tow a trailer fully loaded and its doesn't slip at all ive bought a new clutch thinking that was the problem so ive removed gearbox to find that the shaft inside the gearbox has far to much play up and down and side to side and its wet inside bellhousing ive just replaced the fuel pressure regulator a month ago as I thought that was contaminateing the clutch causing it to slip on removeing the clutch it looks not very old the dmf has play so ill be replacing that but im baffled to why the clutch was slipping and why there is so much play in the shaft??? any help would be much appreciated as I don't want to put it back together and still have the same problem thanks in advance

I think your gearbox might be on the way out.

Mate had exactly the same issue on his R380 box.

Clutch slipping, changed clutch, but there was too much play in the gearbox bearings, so the clutch started to play up again.

Took it all apart again, to find input shaft to gearbox loose, basically gearbox bearings...

yes I think your right dropped my gearbox off to a specialist today and he said a worn dual mass flywheel creates that problem hes going to pull gearbox apart and see what the damage is worst case he said was £370+vat so isn't to bad but with price of clutch and new dual mass flywheel it isn't a cheap fix

Have seen a few dual mass flywheels that when knackered leak fluid which could be causing the clutch slip, this should be fairly obvious though as it usually sprays the fluid/grease all around the bell housing
