Hi guys my disco heater is blowing lukewarm at best, I've bleed the system to check for air, water pump is running ok, one thing I've noticed is the viscous fan is running very fast all the time, is this normal? Coolant temp luke warm temp gauge 1/2 way, any advice would be grateful thanks charlie

Hey cha. Have you had a look at my thread about having to freeze in winter? Lots of info in there. I had the same problem but sorted now.

Hi Charlie, when you say the viscous fan is running all the time, I take it you know that it will freewheel (ie turn) even when the engine is cold?

If the viscous coupling is faulty it will make the fan drive fully and over-cool the engine and therefore the heater.

The place to start would be to remove the fan, then take it for a test drive and get the engine fully up to temp - 10-15mls minimum.

If the heater works properly, you've found the problem. If it still doesn't it's most likely to be the thermostat which is a bit more of a bûgger of a job on the TD5 than the TDi motor.

Hi guys, I've noticed the top radiator hose gets hot but radiator is cold, the pipes for the heater matrix are warmish, the water is trickeling back into the expansion tank, so I'm thinking it's blocked or the water pump is on it's way out, any ideas what to do next? Thanks

thermostat! they can stick open, bit of a pig to do, flush the cooling system at the same time,
