I have used the search feature but everything is from around 2010 time...

Lots of guides on what to do what i'm struggling with is to find a full kit with everything i need, or a list of what i need and what brands i should use?

I have the 10p td5 engine is a disco 2.

never done a head gasket before, but i guess nows the time!

new to me truck 1 previous owner 110k miles,

all fine until i went on a long run around 80/90mph it went into the red i pulled over and water boiling over, anyway changed the thermostat as the kettle test showed it was very very slow to open, and teh radiator was cold and only warm at the top hose.

ive bled the system more times than i care to admit, trying combinations of engine off using bleed screw, engine on with heaters on max etc

when vehicle is still the heaters go cold also.

Lots of bubbles when opening coolant tank, bubbles in return line constantly, and failed a sniff test.

weirdly the car drives great but just starts creeping up to the red then drops back down when on a long run/hills etc.

so yes a all in one kit would be the ideal way, failing that a shopping list and which brands to steer clear/use? thankyou!

Interesting it failed a sniff test as Td5's are notorious for not working with sniff tests. Presumably you tested the fluid first? I had some stuff from Dr Head Gasket and it reacted regardless, they had it back in the end.
If it is definitely the head gasket then we keep all the parts required in stock at Twinwoods4x4, all quality stuff at sensible prices. But there still might be a few things to check first. Bleeding with the heaters on on the D2's just makes it take longer, the coolant circulates all the time you don't need them set to heat.

I tested it on my mates diesel van which is known to be fine and passed the test, with all the other symptoms i think its as good as the head gasket.. unless someone knows of some magic piece that could be broken.. but going away in it on the 29th so want to just order all the biuts get the head stripped sent off tested/skimmed and back on and forget about the whole thing lol

Hi guys results back from machine shop pressure test is fine they’ve had to remove 8thou (0.2mm) off the head, will I be fine using my original 3 hole gasket or should I look for a thicker one?
