TD5 Head Gasket faild. Need cylinder head? which one?

The cylinder head has failed on my 51 plate TD5 Discovery.

I'm thinking of just getting a recon head. I've read that there are different types. How do I know which is he correct one for my car?

Hi Val,

Start by checking your engine number. It is on the block, but should also be on your V5 document.

For the age of yours it should be a 10P engine.

Double check that and let us know what it says.

Ok thanks.

The car is at the garage now and I've instructed them to remove head and inspect, then we go from there depending what they find.

Back on the road now.
Head gasket was the problem, brought on by a weeping hose at the back of the head. Luckily the head was ok. Pressure tested and skimmed 6 thou.
