TD5 Has Been Messed With?

Hi Guys

Ive bought a 99 90 td5 in tangiers orange its got a td5 lump in it sat at 150,000 miles and in the bag of receipts it has one from JE Engineering for an uprated intercooler and 1.22 gearset, but the car actually has a standard intercooler and the 1.4 gear ratio in the transfer box, it seems strange but someone has put it back to standard? My question is if its got a plug in tuning box where would it be and where is the ECU located as i cant find it? i also seem to have two plug in ports one on the fuse box and one mounted on my cubby box, anyone know why?

hi, ecu is under drivers seat, i would guess tuning box would be in there as well if still fitted, port by cubby box is diagnostics, dont no about fuse box port

I think your ecu is under the cubie box

ECU is under the drivers seat as Johnlad says, when u check it make sure that there is no oil down there as the injector loom is known to leak on Td5 and this will travel down the loom to your ECU and bugger it up. If its dry, try to make a drip loop in the wiring if you have enough play to prevent any oil getting to the ECU. It should be obvious and if so is a cheap fix that will save u loads of bother and money. The plug in your fusebox is for extra relays i think, diagnostic plug in cab above transmission tunnel.

Thank you all very much, would you all recommend a transfer box gear change from 1.410 to 1.222?
