Hello all , not the first time you have seen a thread with this heading . I have recently aquired a TD5 SW that would start , run ok for a few seconds , then run rough and sometimes cut out . I have swopped the ECU and alarm ECU from my TD5 pickup , no change , but the SW ECU and alarm ECU in the pick up work ok .Swopped crank sensors over , no change .Replaced the injector wiring harness , no change . Felt the exhaust manifold when I got it started with a missfire , exhaust port one and two were much colder than 3,4,5 , so removed injectors 1 and 2 and replaced them with injectors from a known runner. Now it doesn't start at all using the starter , but does start and run fine if I tow start . Fitted a new starter , as I have had starting problems before on TD5 ( almost like the starter draws too much currant away from the ECU in starting , fitting a new starter has eliminated this problem before ) . With new starter - still no start !!!! .I read on LZ this morning that some folks have had problems with injector sealing washers- couls this be the problem . Also read that someone else had a problem with a rear door switch that caused hard start - could this also be a problem ?

hi, it may be nothing to do with your problem but dont the injectors have to be coded to the ecu to work?

hey Johnlad

I thought so too , but the mechanics I have in the workshop have proved otherwise and tell me that they have changed injectors before - in the middle of deepest darkest Africa with no Test Book at all . It may be an idea though for me to go to the nearest TestBook and do this properly .
Nice fish by the way :)

Hello Shifty

Thanks for the input , I will try it and let you know the outcome . The main ECU earth , is it also in the box under the seat with the ECU ?
