Hi Guys,
I was wondering if anyone has had any experience tinkering with the gear ratios on a TD5, specifically the upgrade from Ashcroft Transmissions (details here). At £646 fitted, it's not cheap - so I would expect a considerable differences in fuel consumption, drivability and decreased engine abuse.
I'm no expert on these things, but from my understanding it won't affect the low box and, apart from a total waste of cash if it doesn't work, won't hinder things at all. Since I bought the Landy a few months back I have hardly been out of it - I'm addicted! And although the drive is all part of the fun I'm clocking up the miles and am keen to make driving as smooth and easy as possible, without changing the fact I'm driving a Defender!
